Keyboard shortcuts

Every keyboard shortcut in Studio

Studio's shortcuts are single keys, so drawing is fast once they are in your fingers. They apply to the 2D canvas.

Cmd and Ctrl

On macOS, use Cmd everywhere these tables say Ctrl.

Drawing

Each of these switches straight into a drawing tool and clears your current selection.

KeyTool
WWall
EDoor
QWindow
CColumn
VStairs or lift
RArea divider

An area divider splits a space into two areas without drawing a physical wall — useful for zoning an open-plan floor.

Editing

ShortcutAction
FFlip the selected door or window
Delete or BackspaceDelete the selection
Ctrl + CCopy
Ctrl + VPaste
Ctrl + ASelect all
EscDeselect everything and cancel the current tool

Esc is the reliable way out of any state — it drops the selection, cancels a half-drawn wall, and returns Studio to idle.

Wall thickness

The same four keys resize whatever is selected without opening the properties panel — wall thickness, and the width of a selected door or window:

ShortcutWallsDoors and windows
DThickness + 2.5 cmWidth + 5 cm
AThickness − 2.5 cmWidth − 5 cm
Shift + DThickness + 12.5 cmWidth + 25 cm
Shift + AThickness − 12.5 cmWidth − 25 cm

Locked walls, locked openings, and area dividers are unaffected. Neither value goes below the minimum for its step size, so a thin wall or a narrow door stops responding to A. Opening widths land on a multiple of the step size, so the first press may move the width by less or more than the figure above.

History

ShortcutAction
Ctrl + ZUndo
Ctrl + URedo

Redo is Ctrl+U

Redo is Ctrl + U, not the Ctrl + Shift + Z you may expect from other tools.

Undo steps follow user actions rather than individual changes, so one gesture that moved several walls is undone in one step.

Locked elements

Shortcuts skip locked elements. If a key appears to do nothing, check whether what you selected is locked — see Locked elements.
